NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang unveiled DLSS 5 at GTC 2026, introducing 3D-guided Neural Rendering. Scheduled for release on September 3, 2026, at 9 PM PT, the technology debuts with NBA 2K27. The system uses a pixel space diffusion transformer model for real-time use.
DLSS 5 is deterministic and utilizes color, motion vectors, depth, and normals for training. Developers manage output via Structure and Tone Intensity settings, while an automasking feature identifies characters. It is supported only on RTX 50 series GPUs.
Performance has increased fivefold since March 2026, allowing NBA 2K27 to reach 370 FPS with the full stack. Integration occurs via Streamline or a UE5 plugin. Despite a GTC video error with Resident Evil Requiem, the tech remains a major leap for RTX users.
