Nvidia Postpones RTX 5000 Super Series Launch

Nvidia has reportedly delayed its Blackwell-based RTX 5000 Super refresh due to rising costs of high-capacity 3 GB GDDR7 memory chips.

Nvidia has postponed its Blackwell-based RTX 5000 Super graphics cards, originally planned for release at CES 2026 and a third-quarter 2026 launch. According to Videocardz, Nvidia informed board partners in January 2026 of a development stop for the RTX 5070 Super, RTX 5070 Ti Super, and RTX 5080 Super. While Seasonic listed these models in power supply calculators and one partner received card models, the refresh is now on hold without a new date. The delay stems from a price hike for 3 GB GDDR7 chips, costing 60-70 US dollars compared to 20 US dollars for 2 GB chips. With cards using six to eight chips, the 3 to 3.5 times higher cost for memory has impacted the TSMC 4N-manufactured series, which typically involves increasing VRAM capacity by switching from 2 GB to 3 GB memory chips.
