Intel Unveils 8000 MT/s DDR5 RDIMMs for Xeon 6

Intel introduces 8000 MT/s DDR5 RDIMMs for Xeon 6 CPUs, delivering a 25% speed increase and 20% higher bandwidth for data center workloads.

Intel is launching 8000 MT/s DDR5 RDIMMs for Xeon 6 CPUs, providing a 25% speed boost and 20% more total memory bandwidth compared to 6400 MT/s modules. This memory configuration, which also reduces latency by 6%, will be supported on select Xeon 6700P Granite Rapids and Xeon 6+ Clearwater Forest SKUs via a UPLR release and BIOS update. Targeted for production in August-September 2026, these speeds offer a 3-6% performance gain. Intel is also advancing Gen 2 Multiplexed Rank Dual Inline Memory Modules (MRDIMM), currently in production. MRDIMMs will reach 8800 MT/s on the Xeon 6900P platform by Q1 2027, targeting 72 to 128-core systems. Future roadmaps project MRDIMM speeds hitting 12,800 MT/s in 2027 and 17,600 MT/s by 2029-2030, coinciding with the planned arrival of DDR6 memory.
