Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 vs Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme

A comparison by Dame Tech shows Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 matching Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme performance with half the power draw.

YouTube channel Dame Tech recently compared the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, powering the liquid-cooled REDMAGIC Astra 2 tablet, against the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme in the ROG Xbox Ally X. Testing revealed that GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 performed identically on both chips. Notably, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 consumed nearly half the power of the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme despite running the games through an emulation layer. While the Android platform has a limited native AAA game library, users can play titles via emulation software like Winlator and GameHub. This process requires purchasing games through a Steam library beforehand. The results highlight the efficiency of Qualcomm's latest SoC when handling demanding PC titles on mobile hardware through translation layers.
