Samsung Supplies Tandem OLED Panels to PC Brands

Samsung Display is providing VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1400 panels to Lenovo, Asus, Dell, and MSI for upcoming high-end devices.

Samsung Display has begun supplying VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1400 monitor panels to industry leaders including Lenovo, Asus, Dell, and MSI. This certification requires panels to achieve black levels of 0.0005 nits or lower and a peak brightness of 1,400 nits at a 10% On Pixel Ratio, marking a 40% increase over the True Black 1000 standard. Samsung utilizes tandem OLED architecture, which stacks two organic emissive layers to reach peak brightness levels of up to 1,600 nits, significantly outperforming the 1,100 nits found in conventional single-layer OLEDs while maintaining the same current consumption. While the Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i Aura Edition was the first to feature this technology, new devices from Asus, Dell, and MSI are expected in the second half of 2026. This move intensifies competition with LG Display as tandem OLED monitors from Alienware, Gigabyte, and MSI also enter the market.
