Nvidia Debuts DLSS 5 for Real-Time 4K Performance

Nvidia unveiled DLSS 5 at SIGGRAPH, promising real-time 4K performance and VRAM efficiency ahead of its scheduled fall 2026 release.

Nvidia debuted DLSS 5 at SIGGRAPH, with a scheduled launch set for the third quarter of 2026. The new technology features three distinct models offering varying levels of detail and performance impact, allowing developers to switch between them in real time or apply effects to specific scene elements like characters. DLSS 5 utilizes a combination of techniques to layer effects over the original rendered frame, with its upscaling component managing lighting and geometry. Designed to process one frame at a time, the system was trained using a larger diffusion model. Nvidia claims DLSS 5 is VRAM efficient, capable of running on a single GPU, and promises consistent real-time 4K performance for upcoming titles.
